Thanksgiving 2019 Update

On Thanksgiving, the staff of the Parent Child Center of Rutland County was able to prepare
Thanksgiving Meal Baskets for over 75 families who attend our programs. This opportunity was
provided in part by a partnership with The Salvation Army of Rutland for the second year in a
row.

Special thanks to Beth Miller for organizing our efforts with Captains Tim and Angela Shaffer,
the Vermont Foodbank, and the many staff and volunteers who worked to support our
wonderful families.

Sharing food and breaking bread together is a way of creating community and honoring the
importance of sitting around the table with those we call family and friends. At the Parent Child
Center we are glad to honor our families with this small token of gratitude for allowing us to be
in community with them all year round as they tackle the barriers that perpetuate poverty and
they triumph over this systemic injustice.

“If you really want to make a friend, go to someone’s house and eat with him… the people who
give you their food give you their heart.”- Cesar Chavez

Please consider supporting the Parent Child Center of Rutland County’s upcoming Christmas
outreach. We will serve over 100 families in our community this year— all unfunded except by
your generosity. Please donate.
