The 7’s Club summer retreat was a success!
This summer RCPCC and St. Joan of Arc parish in Philadelphia arranged for several students to visit our Brandon, Vermont site. The week-long retreat was a diverse group of young adults and included Vermont students from the ‘Learning Together’ academic program. The five day long retreat involved hikes and swimming along the Clarendon Gorge River, trips to Shelburne Museum, journal writing, story-telling and as requested, RCPCC provided what was asked for when the group said – ‘can we go horseback riding?’
The big question participants asked:
“Can we come back to 7’s next summer and work as staff?
The retreat was an extension of the weekly middle school program ‘7’s Club’ that begins this Fall at Otter Valley in Brandon, Vermont. Our Brandon location at 34 Fairve Street (including our ECE and after school SAPLINGS program) has become a noted destination for not only early childhood education but also, progressive youth programming. “The goal is to continue our growing outreach, as well as innovative youth initiatives,” says Christopher Laro, creator and director of The 7’s Club.
