Vermont Child & Family Community Response

Vermont Child & Family Community Response (VCFCR) is an exciting new program replacing the former Strengthening Families program. Utilizing the same framework and focusing on the five protective factors, VCFCR is a prevention based home visiting program. Where Strengthening Families focused on high risk families with a more reactive response to the threats of child abuse and neglect in our community, VCFCR is a proactive approach, aimed at the early warning signs of risk of maltreatment of children. VCFCR’s goal is to prevent child neglect and abuse before it happens.

Families with children prenatal to 6 years old, that do not meet the criteria for an open Department of Children and Family Services (DCFS) case are referred by DCFS and volunteer to work with our highly trained Family Support Specialists. The program lasts 12 to 16 weeks.
